Old Town & Ballhof
Hannover's old town around the Market Church and the Old Town Hall preserves the character of medieval Hannover. After the destruction of the Second World War, numerous half-timbered houses were relocated here and now form a picturesque quarter. The 17th-century Ballhof, originally built for badminton-style games, now serves as a theatre. Among the narrow lanes lined with restaurants and cafés, the Holzmarkt square with the Leibniz House brings the city's history to life.
