Heinz von Heiden Arena (Lower Saxony Stadium)
The Heinz von Heiden Arena, traditionally known as the Lower Saxony Stadium, is the home ground of the football club Hannover 96. Originally built up from wartime rubble, the stadium was rebuilt several times, most recently for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Today the modern arena holds around 49,000 spectators and, alongside Bundesliga matches, hosts major concerts. It is conveniently located by the Maschsee in the south of the city.
