Lake Maschsee

At around 78 hectares, the Maschsee is Hannover's largest body of water and a central recreation area. The artificial lake was created between 1934 and 1936 and is today a venue for sailing, rowing, pedal boats and passenger boat trips. The roughly 6-kilometer lakeside promenade invites jogging, cycling and strolling. Every summer the three-week Maschsee festival turns the shores into a vast fairground of food, music and entertainment.
