Herrenhausen & Gardens
The Herrenhausen Gardens are Hannover's green masterpiece and rank among the most important garden complexes in Europe. The baroque Great Garden captivates with strict geometry and the highest garden fountain in Europe, the Berggarten is a botanical treasure and the Georgengarten enchants in the English style. A whole day for all four gardens plus the palace.

Four gardens and a palace
We start in the Great Garden, cross the Berggarten to Herrenhausen Palace and finish in a relaxed mood in the Georgengarten.

Great Garden
The baroque Great Garden from the 17th century survives almost unchanged - geometric parterres, a hedge theater, a grotto (designed by Niki de Saint Phalle) and the Great Fountain reaching up to 80 meters. Water features at set times.
Tip: The water features only run at certain times - check the schedule in advance.

Lunch in Herrenhausen
At the entrance to the gardens and along Herrenhaeuser Strasse there are cafes and restaurants for a break between the grounds.

Berggarten
The Berggarten is one of the oldest botanical gardens in Germany - with an orchid show house, cactus and tropical houses, perennial and heather gardens. The Welf family mausoleum is also here.

Herrenhausen Palace
Destroyed in 1943 and faithfully rebuilt in 2013, the palace today houses a conference center and a museum on the history of the gardens and the Welf dynasty.

Georgengarten and the Herrenhausen avenue
To finish, the English Georgengarten with its wide meadows, the Wilhelm Busch Museum and the famous Herrenhausen avenue of four rows of old lime trees.
