Hannover is Germany's trade-fair capital - home to the largest exhibition grounds in the world. Day 1

Planning the fair day cleverly

We organize the journey and the fair day, place the Expo grounds in context and plan a relaxed evening in the city center.

  1. 8:00 - 8:45

    Getting to the exhibition grounds

    The exhibition grounds in the south of Hannover are directly reachable on tram line 8/18 and, during major fairs, by special trains. About 20 minutes from the main station. By car, use the signposted fair car parks off the A2/A37.

    Tip: The fair ticket usually doubles as a public-transport ticket within the GVH tariff zone.

  2. 9:00 - 13:00

    Fair visit - morning

    The hall layouts are enormous - mark the stand numbers on the online hall plan in advance and plan your routes. The Skywalk link and shuttle buses between the halls save a lot of time and walking.

  3. 13:00 - 14:00

    Lunch on the grounds or at the Expo Park

    Catering is available in the halls and at the Convention Center. For a quieter meal, eat at the neighbouring Expo Park, the former World Expo site of 2000.

    Fair visit - afternoon

    For conversations and meetings, the late afternoon hours are often quieter. Afterwards, take the tram back towards the city center.

    Arriving at the Kroepcke

    Back in the city: the Kroepcke is the central meeting point with its famous clock. From here you can reach restaurants and bars in every direction.

    Dinner and winding down in the List

    The Lister Meile offers relaxed restaurants and bars - ideal for a casual business dinner or the end of a long fair day.

    Staying in the city

    During major fairs, hotels are scarce and expensive - book early. Central locations in Mitte offer short distances to the tram towards the fair.
