Eilenriede (City Forest)

The Eilenriede is Hannover's largest contiguous urban forest and, at about 640 hectares, almost twice the size of New York's Central Park. The old mixed woodland runs through the eastern districts and offers around 80 kilometers of paths for walking, jogging and cycling. Playgrounds, the Waldkater inn, a high-ropes course and the Lister Turm tower make this "green lung" the city's most popular recreation area.
