Neustadt Court and Town Church of St Johannis
The Neustadt Court and Town Church of St Johannis was built in the late 17th century in the Calenberger Neustadt and served the House of Welf as a court church. Its greatest fame comes from being the burial place of the universal scholar Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, who died in Hannover in 1716 and is interred here. The plain Baroque building with its prominent tower is an important place of remembrance and a popular concert venue.
